The Phoenix metro was named one of the top markets in commercial real estate investment last year as investors continue looking at the Sun Belt region across all sectors.
Phoenix had the sixth highest total investment volume in the country with close to $30 billion just behind Atlanta, the San Francisco Bay area, Dallas-Fort Worth, greater New York and greater Los Angeles in 2021, according to the latest CBRE Group Inc. report from Q4 2021. This was a 137% increase from the previous year for the Phoenix area, which made up nearly 4% of the record $746 billion in overall investment in U.S. commercial real estate.
“Regardless of the product type, Phoenix is on the map in a big, big way from all buckets of capital, whether it be private equity, funds, REITs, institutional and certainly foreign equity,” said Chris Marchildon, first vice president with CBRE in Phoenix.
