Hatteras Sky Created to Specialize in Opportunity Zone, Affordable, Historic and Conventional Commercial Real Estate Development
ATLANTA (November 1, 2019) – Jason Cordon, formerly of Sixty West, has launched Hatteras Sky, a commercial real estate development firm focusing on tax-incentivized and conventional development. Cordon formed the new company to combine his passions of community building and urban development, and his unique experience with tax structuring and incentives. Hatteras Sky will include 10 members of Cordon’s previous Sixty West team, including its Chief Operations Officer Amy Kelly, Managing Director of Development Oz Friedmann, Development Director William Norris, Controller Marlie Davis, Capital Markets Director Jessi Snyder, Marketing Specialist Katie Kinsella, Development Associate Tyler Walker, Accountant Michelle Delgado and Office Manager Breana Newell. Cordon and Kelly will be partners in the new venture.

The Hatteras Sky name is a nod to Cordon’s eastern North Carolina roots and its coastal sky featuring the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Located on the Outer Banks, the historic lighthouse protects the N.C. shoreline in the region with a beam of light that can reach 20 miles into the ocean. “Our team aspires to create beautiful places where people from all walks of life can make memories and feel inspired,” explained Cordon. “The Outer Banks is that type of place for me, so the name ties back to the mission of our new company.”
Although formally leaving Sixty West, Cordon and his team will continue to partner with the Sixty West principals on various projects to further the success they have achieved together. Headquartered in Atlanta, Hatteras Sky will concentrate on investments in multi-family, hospitality and office in top metro areas. The company is already in the pre-development or development stages of 12 projects within their current $500M+ Opportunity Zone portfolio. Highlights include: Seattle’s 12th & Yesler development featuring 283 multifamily units and 10,000+ square feet of retail space; Seattle’s 622 Rainier ground up new construction of 205 multifamily units and 5,200 square feet of retail; Phoenix’s First McKinley, a mixed use new construction project featuring 385 residential units and 15,000 square feet of retail; Salt Lake City’s Union Station, a historic redevelopment of an iconic Union Pacific train depot into a 225-key major flag hotel including retail and events spaces; and Hollywood’s Schrader Hotel, a ground-up new construction of 203 hotel suites.
