ATLANTA (July 1, 2020) – Hatteras Sky, a commercial real estate development and investment firm focusing on tax-incentivized and conventional development, has named Oz Friedmann as the company’s newest Principal. Friedmann will continue in his role as the Managing Director of Development for the firm alongside expanded executive responsibilities. Headquartered in Atlanta, Hatteras Sky is currently involved with 12 projects within their $1.3 billion+ portfolio in Seattle, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, and Asheville.
“Oz has been with us since day one and, from the beginning, has shown tremendous leadership, value, integrity, and commitment,” said Hatteras Sky co-founding Principal and Chief Operations Officer Amy Kelly. “We could not be more excited about our collective future and Oz’s enhanced role in it.”
Friedmann moves into the role with more than 20 years of experience in real estate development and financial strategy. Prior to joining Hatteras Sky, Friedmann completed a successful turn at Mill Creek Residential Trust where he was responsible for the site selection and management of all phases of development of over 2,000 apartment homes and 100,000 square feet of retail.
At Hatteras Sky, Friedmann’s responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the development process, from site acquisition through design, entitlements, financing, construction, leasing, and disposition of assets.
“We have a great team of professionals and it’s very exciting to see our pipeline grow with exceptional developments in key sub-markets,” Friedmann said. “I’m honored by the opportunity to continue growing Hatteras Sky’s successes, and our communities around the nation.”
Led by Friedmann, Hatteras Sky’s development portfolio includes multifamily projects in Seattle, Atlanta, and Phoenix as well as an adaptive re-use hospitality development in Salt Lake City. Its most recent project is an Opportunity Zone mixed-use mid-rise apartment project in downtown Seattle at 12th Avenue and East Yesler Way within the Central District. Hatteras has partnered with local Seattle development team Trent Development and capital partner Bridge Investment Group on that project. The project will feature 274 units and more than 8,100 square feet of ground floor retail. Construction on the 1.09-acre site is anticipated to begin in August of 2020.
“Oz was an easy choice for Principal at Hatteras Sky,” said founding Principal and Chief Executive officer Jason Cordon. “Our firm strives to elevate integrity, professionalism, collaboration, and creative solutions above everything else. Oz has continually proven his ability to uphold those values and we are proud to announce his new role as Principal.”
