The Radical Hotel by Hatteras Sky Sponsor’s GrindFest AVL 2023

ASHEVILLE (May 25, 2023) – The Radical, a 70–key arts-focused boutique hotel by development firm Hatteras Sky, is a proud sponsor of this weekend’s GrindFest 2023. Hosted by Black Wall Street AVL, this year’s event is Asheville’s third GrindFest and will take place in the River Arts District (the RAD). The 2022 event brought over 5,000 visitors from across 35 states to the mountain town, driving tourism and fueling      $95k in earned revenue for participating merchants. More than 51 Black Wall Street cohort businesses participated in the festivities last year, including businesses in the health & wellness, arts, events, and food and beverage industries.

The Radical will open in late summer as a contemporary hotel and living art installation, reflecting the fiercely independent and artistic communities of Asheville’s River Arts District. The hotel will breathe new life into a once abandoned building at 95 Roberts Street and will celebrate its history as a 1920s industrial warehouse and even a graffiti artists’ paradise. The adaptive re-use of the vacant space “will provide a new access point to the RAD for people traveling to Asheville while giving residents new spaces for community gathering, local entertainment and artistic outreach,” said Amy Kelly, founding partner and principal at Hatteras Sky. “We designed the hotel program at The Radical to support and uplift local partners and the culture of makers in Asheville. We could not be more excited to sponsor and attend GrindFest 2023.”

Owned by Hatteras Sky and managed by hospitality veterans Lark Hotels, The Radical will actively work      to secure and support local partnerships which provide additional opportunities for communities to thrive. The Radical is set to open later this Summer with plans to continue support of Black Wall Street AVL and independent creatives throughout the city and surrounding area.
